Teaching

James is currently one of the first Postgraduate Fellows at St Edward’s School, Oxford. In this capacity, he offers instruction at a range of educational levels as part of the provision of English teaching at a large, academically ambitious, independent secondary school. This ranges from mock-Oxbridge style tutorials with prospective applicants and research-led talks to the Sixth Form to the delivery of A-Level lessons. More recently, he has also assumed the newly created role of Senior Fellow, offering support, oversight, and mentoring to Fellows in other subjects, as well as helping to facilitate the school’s Super-Curricular offering.
At the University, he has completed PLTO, and has offered a seminar and accompanying tutorials on modernist and mid-century fiction at St John’s College through the TMS. He also teaches for the Williams-Exeter Programme at Oxford, and is currently offering a series of tutorials on Virginia Woolf. He has also been involved with various teaching-related Outreach projects, including facilitating interview workshops for offer-holders and, more recently, a mock tutorial for prospective applicants at Lincoln College. If you or a colleague are in need of tutorial provision for Prelims Paper 4 or 1a, do not hesitate to contact James via his university email address. He is also available to supervise BA dissertations on modernist, mid-century, and/or contemporary fiction.
